Chassis Tuning

Most often our clients will say during the final test drive "you have given me the car I always wanted" or "I wouldn't have believed the car was capable of so much grip", or "I though it was a Porsche thing"

There is no secret to chassis tuning. Close adherence to factory ranges and tolerances, attention to detail and an interest in applied mathematics and physics helps.

Our process starts with the assessment of how the car is being driven with an interview started by our enquiry form

Does the car have handling issues such as steering pull, unequal turn-in, oversteer, understeer, stability at speed, unsettled over bumpy roads.

How is the car being driven? How skilled is the driver, their style. What roads is the car used on; typically UK A and B roads and a distinct hate of motorways!

The car's setup reflects the driver and application. Aggressive negative cambers maybe fine for the track but can cause darty, startling bump steering on bumpy cross country roads. Incorrect toes can cause white-knuckle rides at high cruising speeds.

Center gravity applies principles of  race cars to road, track and high performance cars. Our race flat and Intercomp corner weight balance equipment is used to adjust weight distribution, measure and meet target weights, calculate and adjust the position of the centre of gravity.

Our Beissbarth 4 wheel alignment equipment allows ultra-accurate static adjustments to camber, toe and caster, which can be adjusted according to the skill and ability of the driver.

The goal of suspension tuning is to maximise the tyre contact patch through tuning of the tyre, spring, damper, suspension links and chassis.
